COLORIZED EYES
Now, I'm sure you saw the colorize tutorial, this is just the same tutorial with a twist. Certain people make black and white graphics, but there are certain parts of the graphic that are still in color. Well, what they did is isolate that part of the graphic, desaturated everything else, and followed the steps to the colorize tutorial to apply a color of their choosing to it. Sounds complicated, but it couldn't be easier.

1.) Choose a photo (A close up photo of the person's face is preferred. When I first made this tutorial, I didn't realize how poor of a choice I made with this photo, but let's go with it. LOL)... I chose Amy Dumas (or commonly known as "Lita" from the WWE).

2.) Click on the magnifying glass on the tool bar and zoom into the photo several times until you can see the person's eye at a closer view. What we're going to do is isolate the iris (colored part) of the eye by selecting it with the lasso tool.

3.) Select the lasso tool, use any one you like. For this tutorial, I used the polygonal lasso tool, but if you want to use the magnetic or free-hand, that's fine too.

4.) Carefully select the eyes of the person with the lasso tool. Of course you can select both eyes at the same time, so when you finish selecting one eye, hit the shift key on your keyboard and proceed to select the other eye with the lasso tool so that you don't lose your previous selection.

5.) Hit Ctrl+Shift+i on your keyboard to invert the selection. Then hit Ctrl+Shift+U on your keyboard to desaturate everything else but the eye. Finally, hit Ctrl+Shift+i again to reverse the selection so that you're back to manipulating the eye color again.

6.) Hit Ctrl+U on your keyboard to get the color option menu to show up. Click on the "colorize" check box and move ONLY the Hue slider and choose a color you would like for the eyes. I chose violet.

7.) Your end result should look like this. Now, I know you can't see the change... as I mentioned before, I chose a piss-poor picture for this tutorial.

8.) Here's a close up view of what you SHOULD see. Oh yeah, you're done.

GO BACK.
